On well-posedness of piecewise affine bimodal dynamical systems
Çamlıbel, Mehmet Kanat (Dogus Author) -- Conference full title: 19th International Symposium on Mathematical Theory of Networks and Systems – MTNS 2010, 5–9 July, 2010, Budapest, Hungary. The theory of differential inclusions provides certain sufficient conditons for the uniqueness of Filippov solutions such as one-sided Lipschitzian property or maximal monotone condition. When applied to piecewise affine dynamical systems, these conditions impose rather strong conditions. In this paper, we provide less restrictive conditions for uniqueness of Filippov solutions for the bimodal piecewise affine systems
Reasons for Diagnostic Delay of Foot Drop Caused by Parasagittal Meningioma: Two Case Reports
Foot drop is defined as an impaired ability or inability of dorsiflexion. Peripheral nervous system injuries are commonly considered as the cause of this condition. The central causes including parasagittal meningioma are also described in the literature but very rarely and commonly not recognized early. In this article, we report 2 patients with isolated unilateral foot drop as the first symptom of a parasagittal meningioma and discuss several reasons for delayed diagnosis. Two patients were treated with decompressive craniotomy. The histopathological findings demonstrated a fibroblastic meningioma and a meningothelial meningioma. During postoperative follow-up, the woman patient showed nearly complete recovery and the second case regained total muscle power over a period of 12 months. The rarity of the disease, the absence of upper motor neuron signs, the occurrence of peripheral pathologies and misinterpretation of F wave on nerve conduction study, and motor unit recruitment on electromyography lead to delay in diagnosis and treatment of the central foot drop due to parasagittal meningioma
Performance of DASH over Multipath TCP
Recently, dynamic adaptive streaming over HTTP (DASH) is a dominated traffic in Internet. The client requests a suitable representation depending on the current network condition. On the other hand, multipath transmission control protocols emerges as potential data transmission utilizing multiple network paths concurrently. In this paper, we conduct extensively experiments to evaluate the performance of DASH over MPTCP. Four different performance metrics are investigated, i.e., time on high quality, impactful switches, switch frequency, and average bitrate. The results show that the performance of DASH decreases when the paths of MPTCP have different bandwidths
The initial study of EBNA-2 polymorphisms in nasopharyngeal carcinoma in Vietnam
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection is the main cause of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC). EBNA-2, one of the most important genes participating in the formation of NPC, also helps EBV evade an attack on the immune
system. EBNA-2 has 4 variants including E2-A, E2-B, E2-C and E-2D, of which E2-A and E2-C are the characterized variants for NPC. This study aimed to evaluate the variations of EBNA-2 in NPC biopsy samples of Vietnamese patients. This initial study used 10 biopsy samples, which were positively confirmed to NPC, collected from Cho Ray Hospital. Nested PCR – nucleotide sequencing was applied to analyze the variants of EBNA-2. The results showed that 8 out of 10 samples, accounting for 80%, were positive to EBNA-2. Additionally, only two variants, E-2A and E-2C were detected in our study, in which, E2-A subtype was identified as the predominant subtype. These findings would provide initial data about potential contribution of EBNA-2 polymorphisms to etiology of NPC in Vietnamese population
Effect of Silver Nanowire Dimension to Ammonia Adsorption of Graphene-silver Nanowires Hybrid
In this report, we study the effect of silver nanowires (AgNws) dimension to electrical properties of rGO/AgNws hybrid. The alteration of these electrical properties leads the difference of ammonia sensibility of the rGO/AgNws hybrid based sensing devices. When the rGO is accompanied by AgNws of different sizes from \sim 500$~\text{nm to } 10\;\mum, the ammonia sensitivity of these hybrids change from 60% to 340% alteration compared with the bare rGO material
PRESENT DAY DEFORMATION IN THE EAST VIETNAM SEA AND SURROUNDING REGIONS
This paper presents velocities of present-day tectonic movement and strain rate in the East Vietnam Sea (South China Sea) and surroundings determined from GPS campaigns between 2007 and 2010. We determine absolute velocities of GPS stations in the ITRF05 frame. The result indicates that GPS stations in the North of East Vietnam Sea move eastwards with the slip rate of 30 - 39 mm/yr, southwards at the velocities of 8 - 11 mm/yr. Song Tu Tay offshore moves eastwards at the rate of ~24 mm/yr and southwards at ~9 mm/yr. GPS stations in the South of East Vietnam Sea move to the east at the rate of ~22 mm/yr and to the south at the velocities of 7 - 11 mm/yr. The effect of relative movement shows that the Western Margin Fault Zone activates as left lateral fault zone at the slip rate less than 4 mm/year.In Western plateau, the first result from 2012 - 2013 GPS measurement shows that the velocities to the east vary from 21.5 mm/yr to 24.7 mm/year. The velocities to the south vary from 10.5 mm/yr to 14.6 mm/year. GPS solutions determined from our campaigns are combined with data from various authors and international projects to determine the strain rate in the East Vietnam Sea. Principal strain rate changes from 15 nanostrain/yr to 9 nanostrain/yr in the East Vietnam Sea. Principal strain rate and maximum shear strain rate along the Red River Fault Zone are in order of 10 nanostrain/year. East Vietnam Sea is considered to belong to the Sunda block
TextANIMAR: Text-based 3D Animal Fine-Grained Retrieval
3D object retrieval is an important yet challenging task, which has drawn
more and more attention in recent years. While existing approaches have made
strides in addressing this issue, they are often limited to restricted settings
such as image and sketch queries, which are often unfriendly interactions for
common users. In order to overcome these limitations, this paper presents a
novel SHREC challenge track focusing on text-based fine-grained retrieval of 3D
animal models. Unlike previous SHREC challenge tracks, the proposed task is
considerably more challenging, requiring participants to develop innovative
approaches to tackle the problem of text-based retrieval. Despite the increased
difficulty, we believe that this task has the potential to drive useful
applications in practice and facilitate more intuitive interactions with 3D
objects. Five groups participated in our competition, submitting a total of 114
runs. While the results obtained in our competition are satisfactory, we note
that the challenges presented by this task are far from being fully solved. As
such, we provide insights into potential areas for future research and
improvements. We believe that we can help push the boundaries of 3D object
retrieval and facilitate more user-friendly interactions via vision-language
technologies.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2304.0573
